Toy Car Tire Painting

Months ago, we decided it would be a good idea to put some paint onto Christian’s car tire and roll over a big white piece of paper.

It looked cool, but then I forgot all about it. After all, it’s probably not too child-friendly to back your car up when your kids are peering closely at the tires.

It didn’t occur to me to modify this project until Beckett got some ultra-cool, massively rugged superhero cars for his birthday. The tires were perfect.

Dig through your toy bins and evaluate the tires on every vehicle. Find the ones with awesome tire treads.

Dab paint on the tires. We used acrylic paints (my favorite kind of paints), and they worked great. It helps to dab the paint on the tires, because brushing it on won’t allow it to stick as well to the tread bumps.

Now for the best part- roll the trucks over the paper. It definitely helps make a better picture if you make vrrrrrrm noises.

Try different colors on different tires, and you’ll get a rainbow of tread marks.
